Build a castle that's the envy of all other kids at the beach!

Mechanics/ features:

Build Sandcastles

• Build tall and or beautiful with a variety of sandcastle base shapes
• Castles stack, fall with gravity and react to collisions
• UI that shows your current max height, and your record so far
• New castles animate, include dust prticle effects and sounds

Your enemy: the tide!

• The ocean ebbs and swells with waves and a tide that comes in over time
• Sandcastles progressively get wet and more broken over time in water
• Underwater sandcastles erode twice as fast!
• Castles block water further up the beach - defend your creation!

Bonus/ Quality of life features:

• Digging tool that allows you to dig the beach - add some cool moats!
• Want to start fresh? The reset button starts a new beach
• Audio mixing tools - adjust master volume, sound effects and the music
• Unobtrusive tutorial tooltips that dissapear once demonstrated

Assets and Attributions

This is my first game, so I tried to create nearly everything from scratch, to learn as much as possible. I made extenstive use of the Unity documentation and Learn platform, along with a plethora of YouTube tutorials.

Made for the 2016 SummerTime GameJam! V2 over 1 1/2 weeks during my winter break.

• Playtesting expertly done by my 9 year old stepdaughter Willow
• Game Engine: Unity 6.4
• Original 3D (models) and 2D assets (UI, skybox), created in Blender and GIMP
• All scripts/ code for the game was created from scratch
• Original custom shader for the water - I'm pretty proud of this one!
• Only AI use was for getting feedback on my code and asking for tips on optimising it
